History of our School
For over 70 years, St Bernadette’s School has been a welcoming and caring part of the community, providing children with a secure and happy environment in which to learn, grow and flourish. Our school is an extension of the family, where we nurture each child’s knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and character, preparing them confidently for the next stage of learning and for life in an ever-changing community.
Rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, we encourage children to show responsibility, self-discipline, kindness and respect for others.
Our guiding principle is simple: “Treat others as we would like to be treated.”
We celebrate diversity and promote mutual respect, tolerance, democracy, the rule of law and individual liberty, helping our pupils become confident, compassionate and well-rounded young people who contribute positively to modern Britain.

St Bernadette
7th January 1844 – 16th April 1879
Bernadette Soubirous was born in Lourdes, France. She came from a poor family and was a sickly child. On 11th February 1858 she was out gathering wood with her sister and a friend when she had a vision of the Virgin Mary. Altogether Bernadette had 18 visions. During one she claimed, “the lady” asked her to drink the water of the spring. When she began to dig, the mud turned to clear water which now forms the grotto at Lourdes where almost 5 million pilgrims flock each year to drink and bathe in the waters.
St Bernadette's Feast Day – 16th April
