PSHE - Personal, Social, Health and Economic
Our pupil’s Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development is at the heart of our school ethos. We promote our school values through the overarching aims of Personal, Social, Health and Emotional Education (PSHEE) to support children as they prepare for life in modern Britain. Our spiral curriculum ensures our pupils continue to build on their understanding of British Values. This takes place in an age-appropriate way, in order for them to become positive citizens in a forever changing community. We aim for leaders of the future by the end of their journey with us, before moving on to the next stage in their education.
Through our broad and balanced curriculum at St. Bernadette’s, British Values are taught through our PSHE lessons, Religious Education (RE) and cross curricular too. Our pupils have the opportunity to explore each value in a range of ways through our school ethos, assemblies, and real-life situations that arise. We are committed to ensuring the all-round development of every child so it important that each child feels, loved, safe and secure with the support of these values. We aim to create young leaders of the future which will have respect for all people in our world. It is important to us that we encourage each pupil to participate in different experiences, life of our school and our local community too. There is a range of opportunity for all children to learn and be involved in gaining responsibility and awareness of their rights through their own roles at school.
